CFB Rotary’s very own John Chollampel was the recipient of two awards back to back!  On Friday, February 25, John received Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce's “Carrollton's Rising Star” award for 2022 presented by Carrollton Mayor Pro Tem Pat Cochran. Nominees are selected by the Carrollton City Council for strong volunteer commitment and demonstration of leadership. As Chair of the Neighborhood Advisory Commission (NAC), John thought of and spearheaded the City’s first HOA & NAC dinner event, so the City of Carrollton may build stronger & more personal relationships with future leaders of Carrollton. The dinner was successful & feedback was very positive.

A few days later on March 2, John was chosen as the recipient of the City of Carrollton’s 2022 “Neighborhood Leadership Award” for his work in gathering volunteers to fully revamp & remodel a dilapidated park in his neighborhood, and for being the first & only person in Carrollton to create and implement decorative street signs and posts to be used in his own subdivision. The award was presented to John by Carrollton Mayor Kevin Falconer at the 2022 annual “State of the City Citizen's Evening” event.

These awards are designed to recognize individuals, organizations, and leaders going above and beyond to deliver exceptional community service to the City of Carrollton. Recipients not only display hard work, but creative thought as well.

John’s father in law & the uncle of CFB Rotary member Simon Chamakala, Theophine (CC) Chamakala, was a Past President of the McKinney Rotary Club. The Carrollton Farmers Branch Rotary is humbled and proud to have John represent our organization!
