Rotary Club of Carrollton-Farmers Branch contributed $1,500 to Metrocrest Services to help meet the urgent need during the COVID-19 pandemic. The check was presented to Metrocrest CEO Tracy Eubanks (in red shirt) by (left to right) Paul Lonquist, Club President David Hale, Treasurer Bill Bexley, and Victoria Mendoza.

Many in our community received an email from Eubanks commenting on the increase in demand due to the Shelter in Place order resulting in many not being able to work, “Within a week, we have seen a 27% increase in food pantry visits, and calls have increased for rental and lodging. With all the closures, families and seniors who live paycheck-to-paycheck are at risk of becoming homeless as they will no longer have the funds to pay for their rent, utilities, food, medication, and other essential items.”

Metrocrest is practicing the prescribed distancing directives by having staff/volunteers pick the food orders per family type. Clients drive up in the back at an arranged time, and stay in their vehicle while the volunteers load the food. This helps those inside to stay 6 feet apart and keeps the clients from entering the facility. This keeps everyone safe.

CFB Rotary has a long-standing relationship with Metrocrest.  We will continue to work to meet the needs of our community.
